App Compat Guy Sessions at TechEd North America 2011

Well, the temperature reads 55 degrees, so I figure I can’t possibly be in Hotlanta, but, shockingly, indeed I am! It’s awesome to be here at TechEd North America 2011 and not be sweating! (Anyone remember TechEd in New Orleans last year? What was it, 451 degrees F? I’m pretty sure my paper was spontaneously erupting into flames.)

If you are

Killing a wedged virtual machine

While I would like to pretend that nothing ever goes wrong with Hyper-V – the fact of the matter is that sometimes things go wrong with the best systems.

Hyper-V has been designed in a modular fashion so that you can easily address any problems without affecting other virtual machines.  But there can be a problem in figuring out what to

The real “legacy” network adapter

When I found out about this, I thought: “Cool! I should try that out, setup a cluster and blog all about it!”.  So I created three virtual machines and then spent the weekend playing Civilization V and working on

When and why do we use ellipses?

Is there any reason why; in the Action menu on the Virtual Machine Connection window -  most of the actions are written as “Turn Off…” or “Shut Down…” whereas “Save” and “Pause” have no trailing “…”?

And then you compare it to Hyper-V Manager and there’s inconsistency between the two? For example it’s “Snapshot” in Hyper-V
